PnP Golf’s patented ‘Dual Bounce Rail’ design and advanced ‘On-set Leading Edge’ glides through sand and combs through rough like no other wedge –

with more acceleration and less effort.

PNP WEDGE BOUNCE DESIGN BREAKTHROUGH

Innovative dual-rail bounce slices through sand, rough and hardpan.

The PnP Golf RAKE Wedge innovation effectively reduces resistance through the sand and grass by breaking the one large blunt bounce, found on other traditional wedges, into two bounces.

It’s simple physics! The void formed between the two bounces (Rails) provides an escape path for the sand or turf to pass through, and delivers the following benefits:

  • reduces resistance on impact, and so enables more acceleration with less effort
  • more control by stabilising the club’s head through impact
  • Rails enable higher ball and flight.

That’s why they deliver great results!

What is the great advantage over traditional wedges?

Other wedges, particularly sand wedges, have a single, blunt bounce. PnP Golf has broken up this single, traditional bounce into what we call a dual bounce rail design. When in sand or rough the gap between these two bounces provides an avenue for the sand or rough to pass through, thus more acceleration with less effort. You will also have more control, as the rails assist to stabilise the clubhead’s intended direction through the sand and rough. When in tight lies or hardpan the initial entry of the rails makes it easier (than a blunt bounce) to break through the surface which in effect lowers the club’s leading edge to deliver better and higher contact with the club face and improved ball flight.

What does the RAKE Dual Bounce Rail Design do?

The RAKE Dual Bounce Rail Design gives you the advantage of bounce without a large bounce lobe that can get stuck in grass or sand. This patented Dual Bounce Rail Design creates a space for grass and sand to flow through which allows the club to maintain its momentum and stay online. The trailing edge design offers relief from the resistance of the clubhead into the grass and sand and allows the golfer to follow through and finish the swing much easier. The RAKE, with Dual Bounce Rail Design, is the only wedge in the golf industry that actually uses the grass and/or sand to stabilize the club through impact preventing it from twisting or turning through the hitting area. This is increasingly noticeable in deep rough or heavy wet grass.

Why should I use a RAKE Sand Wedge?

In theory and in practice, the RAKE Sand Wedge with its patented Dual Bounce Rail Design allows you to get out of the sand and rough with less effort. The RAKE Sand Wedge does not dig into the sand as deep as an industry standard sand wedge is designed to "bounce" out of the sand sooner. This is advantageous especially so for higher handicappers (15+) who will not have to work as hard or have as much physical strength to get the ball out of the sand.

    What is golf club bounce?

Golf club bounce is the angle formed between the leading and trailing edges of the bottom of your club, also referred to as the sole of your club. When you address a golf ball the club actually rests on the sole where most clubs have the number or name of club located. The bounce on each club is designed to create the least amount of resistance and increase the ease of hitting consistent shots. Golf club bounce is one of the keys to improving a clubs performance. The amount of bounce you need is dependent upon the playing conditions most frequently encountered and must be considered when purchasing your clubs. Touring professionals will own multiple sand wedges with varying bounce angles and change depending on the playing conditions which could include tight lies, hard ground, hard or wet sand, fluffy sand, thick rough and other conditions.

    What is bounce angle?

On the sole of your golf club there is a trailing edge that actually rests slightly lower than the leading edge. The bounce angle is the angle formed between the ground and the slope from the sole’s leading edge to its trailing edge.

What is the bounce angle of the RAKE Sand Wedge?

On the sole of your golf club there is a trailing edge that actually rests slightly lower than the leading edge. The bounce angle is the angle formed between the ground and the slope from the sole’s leading edge to its trailing edge.

How much bounce do I need on my wedges?

The playing conditions encountered must be considered when deciding how much bounce you need on your wedges. The more bounce a wedge has the more it will resist digging into the sand or deep rough. The greater the bounce angle the more resistance the club head will have as it moves through the sand or thick rough keeping it near the ground surface allowing for a cleaner strike. When choosing a wedge do so with your hometown golf courses in mind. If you play a golf course with very few sand traps and a hard surface you may want a club with less bounce. The RAKE Lob Wedge which has 15 degrees of bounce is more suited for consistency on these shots. If you play golf courses that have several sand traps and rough or thick grass you may find a club with more bounce more appealing. Generally, for shots out of sand traps or rough, a wedge with more bounce performs better. More bounce allows the club to slide through the sand easier rather than dig deeply into the dirt. The PNP RAKE Sand Wedge has a large rail bounce, 20 degrees, and its patented RAKE shaped sole reduces the amount of the club contacting the ground resulting in less drag. If your local course has both types of conditions, you might want to have both clubs in your bag.

How do I choose between a RAKE Sand WEdge and a RAKE Lob Wedge?

Both the RAKE Sand and RAKE Lob wedge are scoring clubs, you just use them in different situations. The RAKE Sand wedge is the club of choice out of the sand. The Sand Wedge is also great for pitch and chip shots that have lots of putting green surface for the ball to roll towards the hole. The RAKE Lob wedge is the club of choice for pitch and chip shots that require height or spin or both. With practice the RAKE Lob wedge is also great out of the sand or deep rough. The decision to have one or the other is tough and dependent on the courses you play. For many people who play courses with different conditions, having both RAKE Wedges will help you score better.

Should I only use my RAKE Sand Wedge from the sand?

By design the RAKE Sand Wedge is the best club to use out of most sand traps because of the benefits gained from 20 degrees of Rail bounce. In theory and in practice, the RAKE Wedge design allows you to get out of the sand with less effort. The RAKES Rail Bounce Design does not dig into the sand as deep as a standard wedge and therefore is designed to “bounce” out of the sand sooner. The RAKE Sand Wedge is best out of the sand but we suggest you develop short game skills from anywhere on the golf course that is within the distance you can hit your RAKE Sand Wedge. A Sand Wedge is a scoring club so put some time in with yours from the sand and from around the green. With practice, the RAKE Sand Wedge can be used for most shots inside 100 yards (90 metres).

What is an Onset Leading Edge?

An Onset Leading Edge is a face forward clubface design that places the face of the club forward of the hosel. The Onset design allows you to strike the ball sooner than a square leading edge and helps you make better contact on tight lies and hard pan. Both the RAKE Sand Wedge and RAKE Lob Wedge have the Onset Leading Edge.

How is the RAKE Lob WEdge different than a standard lob wedge?

The RAKE Lob Wedge is unique in that it is the only Lob wedge in the golf industry designed with a Dual Bounce Rail. The Dual Bounce Rail Design enables the RAKE Lob Wedge to cut through thick grass or hit off hard pan much easier than a standard Lob wedge. The RAKE Lob Wedge Rail Design is unlike any Lob Wedge in golf today.

When should I use a RAKE Lob wedge?

The RAKE Lob wedge should be used for high approach and pitch shots from around the green from distances up to 80 yards (75 metres) or as far as you can hit it. The RAKE Lob Wedge is a vital scoring club and can be used from almost anywhere including the fairway, the rough, the sand and even tight lies or hard pan. The RAKE Lob Wedge has 60 degrees of loft, perfect for high flop shots and pitch and chip shots to a tight or tucked pin that does not have a lot of green surface for your ball to roll. The RAKE Lob Wedge is designed to land soft and stop quickly after it lands.

When should I use a RAKE Sand wedge?

The RAKE Sand wedge should be used from any sand trap and for pitch and chip shots around the green from distances up to approximately 110 yards (100 meters) or as far as you can hit it. The RAKE Sand Wedge is exceptional out of most any sand trap and is a vital scoring club. Although it’s highly recommended out of the sand it can also be used from the fairway and rough. The RAKE Sand Wedge is unlike any sand wedge in golf today.
